Comedy Clubs in Lansing

Lansing is Michigan's capital city. It has plenty of clubs and restaurants, but only one comedy club. But there are other locations in Lansing where people can see comedians perform as well. As a city with a vibrant nightlife and multiple colleges in the area, comedy shows are popular, whether they are held at a church, night club, bar, hotel, college campus or the comedy club. A comedy club can be an alternative night-out option to typical clubs.

  1. Connxtions Comedy Club

    • Lansing's only comedy club is Connxtions Comedy Club (pronounced "Connections"). The club books acts from mid-Michigan as well as nationally known comics. The club is "adults only," and all acts are rated R, according to the club's website. You must be 18 to enter. Alcohol is available at Connxtions for people 21 and older. The club offers more show times during the winter months than in the summer, and it does not have shows every day. Reservations are encouraged but not necessary. Some big-name comedians can sell out. Tickets can be purchased on the Connxtions Comedy Club website. There is a cover charge to get into the club, but people who attend during the week of their birthday get in for free. Some days and show times are smoke-free. Wednesday and Thursday shows are half price if you show a current student ID, although the offer does not apply for special shows.

    The Wharton Center

    • The Wharton Center for Performing Arts is a facility on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing. Wharton is not a club, and in fact is a semi-formal to formal experience. The university's performance hall books several types of performances throughout the year, including stand-up comic acts. The acts are always nationally known comedians with higher ticket prices than you might pay to see an amateur or lesser-known professional. Performances take place in a large theater where no eating or drinking is allowed. Tickets should always be purchased ahead of time and can be obtained at the Wharton Center box office on the college campus or online at the center's website.
