How to Better Your Bus Commute

Gas prices are rising and more people are looking to riding the bus or other public transportation for their commute. Leaving your car at home can feel like a sacrifice of your own car experience where you you can sing to yourself, listen to talk radio and have phone conferences. However, bus travel offers an array of activities not available while driving to and from work. One of the most popular options not possible in a car commute is the pre- and post-work nap.

Instructions

    • 1

Read. Use the time you have on the bus to continue reading a book or newspaper you would usually reserve for mornings or evenings at home.

    • 2

Work. With most metro bus systems providing Wi-Fi, the bus has become a hub for checking email, downloading files and keeping up with other business through the Internet.

    • 3

Chat. While chatting can also happen online, the bus provides a unique opportunity to make new friendships with people you will see everyday at the same time. It can lend itself to a cathartic vent on the day to someone you otherwise may never have met.

    • 4

Nap. Use the distance and time it takes to get from the bus stop to your work stop to catch a few extra winks of sleep that are not afforded in the car. Taking short naps versus long naps during the day is actually a great source of energy regeneration.
