RV Campgrounds Near Sonora, Texas

Sonora, Texas, is a small town between San Antonio and El Paso on Interstate 10. Though the town has just over 3,000 residents, it does offer amenities, such as a golf course and hospital that usually are found only in larger cities. It has a few hotels but not many RV travelers. If they didn't stop at Ozona to the west or Junction to the east, RV travelers will need to head north.
  1. Caverns of Sonora

    • Caverns of Sonora operates the closest campground to Sonora as it's just eight miles west of the city. Caverns of Sonora is more of a tourist destination with some of the most spectacular caves in Texas. However Caverns does offer 48 RV and tent camping sites that are located on a working ranch. All RV sites have water and electric hook-ups, but not sewer, and a dump station is not available on site. Restrooms with showers are available.

    Ozona RV Parks

    • Ozona, about a half-hour drive west of Sonora, has a couple of places to park recreational vehicles, according to the website, RVparkreviews.com. Both are located near exits off of Interstate 10. Circle Bar, on County Road 108, has 95 sites with hook-ups, including internet and cable TV. Sites are pull-throughs and pets are allowed. Circle Bar is located at Exit 372.

      Not too far away from the Circle Bar, the Economy Inn has a 30-space basic RV park. All hook-ups, plus cable, are available. The Economy Inn is located at Exit 365.

    Concho Valley KOA

    • Concho Valley is located south of San Angelo, just off Highway 277, which leads to Sonora in the south. The campground has a historic past as it's located in the vicinity of Fort Concho, a military outpost that was important as settlers moved west following the Civil War. The KOA has 56 full-service pull-through sites that are 70 feet long. The RV park is located about a mile from Lake Nasworthy which offers fishing, boating and other water activities for travelers. The RV park has a pool, horseshoe pits, playground and bike rentals. Activities also are planned on weekends.
