Before starting your DIY camper roof vent cover installation, collect all the necessary supplies. You will need a drill and assorted bits, screwdrivers (size depends on the model you purchase), a vent cover and kit, putty tape or sealant and a ladder. Start by climbing on the roof of your RV and measuring your vent so you know exactly what size cover to purchase.
After purchasing the new RV roof vent cover, climb back on the roof of the RV. Start by placing the cover over the vent. Mark where you need to drill the holes around the vent. Remove the cover and drill the holes into the roof.
Apply putty tape or sealant to the bottom of the roof vent cover. The easiest product to use is putty tape because you just need to cut the appropriate size and place it along the entire bottom. Place the cover in its location again, matching up to the holes that need to be drilled. Drill the screws into the roof, pressing down firmly so the putty tape sticks to the roof.
