DIY Camper Roof Vent Covers

Roof vents on RVs help circulate the air and remove odors. The only problem is roof vents can only be used when the RV is parked and the weather is nice. This problem can be solved if you install a roof vent cover on your RV. A vent cover allows you to use the vent any time you feel like it, even in the rain. It is easy to install a roof cover vent yourself on your RV.
  1. Preparation

    • Before starting your DIY camper roof vent cover installation, collect all the necessary supplies. You will need a drill and assorted bits, screwdrivers (size depends on the model you purchase), a vent cover and kit, putty tape or sealant and a ladder. Start by climbing on the roof of your RV and measuring your vent so you know exactly what size cover to purchase.

    Drilling

    • After purchasing the new RV roof vent cover, climb back on the roof of the RV. Start by placing the cover over the vent. Mark where you need to drill the holes around the vent. Remove the cover and drill the holes into the roof.

    Application

    • Apply putty tape or sealant to the bottom of the roof vent cover. The easiest product to use is putty tape because you just need to cut the appropriate size and place it along the entire bottom. Place the cover in its location again, matching up to the holes that need to be drilled. Drill the screws into the roof, pressing down firmly so the putty tape sticks to the roof.
