Clean the Hinson clutch basket's thread holes with contact cleaner and a rag. Make sure that no lint enters the threaded area.
Place the clutch basket into an oven. Set the oven for 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the part to warm for approximately 15 minutes.
Clean the clutch basket screws and kickstarter gear with contact cleaner and a rag.
Place the kickstarter gear in a freezer for up to 30 minutes.
Remove the clutch basket from the oven using oven mitts. Place the basket on a sturdy worktable.
Remove the kickstarter gear from the freezer and place it on the hot clutch basket. Gently tap the gear into the basket using a rubber mallet. Tap the gear along its perimeter so that it moves smoothly and evenly into the basket. This will prevent the gear from jamming within the basket at an odd angle.
Visually verify that the kickstarter gear has been properly seated into the basket. Strike the gear in the middle with a rubber mallet to ensure that it's installed completely.
Place a heavy weight on top of the basket and gear assembly while it cools, approximately 15 minutes.
Place the primary drive gear into the clutch basket. Place rubber cushions on the primary gear. Attach the backing plate to the clutch basket.
Tighten the plate down with Allen head screws using an Allen head screwdriver. Make sure to use thread locker on the screws to ensure a tight fit.
Reattach the complete clutch basket to the dirt bike and test drive.
