Campgrounds Near Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas

The Little Rock Air Force Base is located in the northern section of Jacksonville about 20 miles outside Little Rock, Arkansas. Locals and travelers have access to a choice of overnight accommodations, from hotels to campgrounds. Many campgrounds in the area that cater to overnight and short-stay visitors are located in Jacksonville or nearby in Northern Little Rock.
  1. LRAFB Family Camp

    • Select individuals may qualify to enjoy the camping facilities located directly at the Little Rock Air Force Base, providing a host of outdoor activities without a great deal of travel. There are six tent sites and 10 RV sites available, at a cost of $10 and $12 respectively, as of March 2011. Fishing and hunting licenses can be purchased and used on-site, and children are welcome to compete in a fishing competition annually in June. Almost anything imaginable is available for rent, from tents to turkey cookers to canoes. Guests can enjoy on-site swimming or nature walks just a step from the base. Those choosing to meander off-site can visit the nearby Stage of the Star Museum or the Sci-port Discovery Center. All visitors must meet eligibility requirements.

    Tall Pines RV Park

    • Tall Pines RV Park in Jacksonville is not a traditional RV-only park. Unlike traditional RV parks, Tall Pines RV Park caters to mainly overnight or short-term visitors, making it one of the top RV campgrounds in the northern part of the state. No tents are allowed, and neither are unruly children. Otherwise, Tall Pines has the same feel as many of the local campgrounds in the area. Guests at the park can enjoy a seasonal pool, a cooking area, a bathhouse and an on-site convenience store and snack bar. The Tall Pines RV Park is located near the Gators and Friends Alligator Park and Zoo and the Gardens of the American Rose. As of March 2011, rates start at $32. Reservations are recommended.

    KOA

    • The Little Rock North KOA is easily accessible off Interstate 40 and is open year-round. The KOA offers campsites, cabins and pull-through sites that can accommodate up to 95 feet. Guests at the KOA in Little Rock can enjoy non-stop activities and fun in and around the campground, including an on-site pool, snack bar and wireless Internet access. The KOA is located near a large selection of attractions, including the State Capitol Building, Hot Springs National Park and the Arkansas River Trail. Rates at the KOA in Little Rock vary based on a variety of options, including number of guests, site desired and add-ons, such as a boat. A standard tent site, with no add-ons, that accommodates up to 12 guests is $30 per night as of March 2011.

    Burns Park Campground

    • Northern Little Rock is home to Burns Park Campground, located directly in Burns Park. Both RV and tent sites are available at an average cost of $18 and $14, respectively, as of March 2011. In the winter, a discounted weekly rate is offered. Leashed pets are welcome and guests have access to all of the activities located inside Burns Park, including picnic areas, playground equipment, equestrian trails, a 36-hole golf course, ski complex and boat-launching ramp. For those who care to explore areas outside the park, the Old Mill is a free popular local attraction. Other nearby attractions include Emerald Park and the Little Rock Zoo.
