Gruene, Texas Camping

Gruene, Texas is located just north of the city of New Braunfels, 30 miles northeast of San Antonio. The 250-mile Guadalupe River flows through these two cities in south-central Texas and is the main feature of campgrounds in the area.
  1. Campgrounds

    • To the south of Gruene, River Ranch RV Resort and Landa RV Park and Campground serve campers right in the middle of New Braunfels. Northwest of Gruene, campgrounds prove more remote and the only neighbors tend to be other campers in nearby campgrounds such as the KL Ranch Camp, Camp Huaco Springs, Second Crossing Camp, Abbot's Campground and O'Henry's Hideway, which are spread out along the winding Guadalupe River.

    Amenities

    • All campgrounds listed above include amenities for RVs including water and electric hookups, and all of them except for River Ranch RV Resort allow tent camping as well. These campgrounds are well-developed in order to compete with others along the river so expect to find bathrooms with showers and family-friendly sites that are right off the water.

    Water Activities

    • Tubing or rafting down the Guadalupe River attracts campers and residents alike. River outfitters in Gruene can arrange your rafting trip throughout the year or rent out inner tubes in the spring and summer. Depending on the time of year and the water level, the trip down the river takes between three and five hours.
