Minnesota State Parks Camping Information

Minnesota is home to 72 state parks, of which 67 allow camping. Minnesota State Parks has over 5,000 campsites ranging from remote sites to those for group camping experiences. Park offices sell firewood. Reservations are required and can be made online (see Resources).
  1. Standard and Remote Campsites

    • The 3,000 standard campsites include shower access and toilet facilities; some sites have electric hook-ups for an additional fee. Remote campsites are accessible only by kayak, bike or on foot and provide water and primitive toilet facilities. Remote sites have access to a picnic table and a fire ring equipped with a grill.

    Equestrian and Tipi Campsites

    • Thirteen equestrian campsites accommodate horses. A Horse Trail Pass is required for access to horse trails, recreation areas, state trails and state forests.

Tipi campsites are only available at Upper Sioux Agency State Park. Tipis are 18 feet in diameter, have a wood cedar deck inside and accommodate up to six. Fire rings are provided.

    Group and Monthly Campsites

    • Group campsites can accommodate 12 to 200 people and have water and primitive toilet facilities.

Minnesota State Parks offers campers extended stays for a month or an entire season. Reservations need to be made by April 1 for extended summer camping.
