According to the Texas park service, Enchanted Rock is a "huge, pink granite exfoliation dome," and the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is the nearly 1,700-acre recreational area that surrounds it, offering year-round hiking, rock climbing, and swimming holes during times of plentiful rain. Walk-in campsites with tent pads and water sources are available, and primitive backpacking is allowed as well. No car or vehicle camping is available at Enchanted Rock.

Oak trees provide shade, and activities include fishing, 6,000 feet of hiking trails (including a wheelchair accessible nature trail) and swimming in the Olympic-size swimming pool during the summer months. Golfers can enjoy the 18-hole golf course, and tennis and volleyball courts are on site as well.
