Right on the north shore of Lake Alice, Sure-Wood Forest offers eight campsites, some for tents and some large enough to accommodate RVs. Rent a pontoon boat, a fishing boat or a canoe and explore the lake as well as the Wisconsin River. The campsite has its own bar and grill and there are several other taverns with boat access along the shore. Your merry band of campers will have access to a sandy beach, boat dock, showers, laundry facilities, and electrical and water hookups.
Choose from 100 tent and RV campsites in Tomahawk Campground and RV Park, 1/2 mile from Lake Alice. Whether you want a primitive tent pitch or a full hookup with electricity and water, each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. Large group sites are available for those who like to camp with friends and everyone is invited to free use of the heated indoor pool, sauna and hot tub and the nearby Super 8 Motel. Bathrooms and showers are located around the campground.
As it leaves Lake Alice, the Wisconsin River passes through the city of Tomahawk and on to the next reservoir, Lake Mohawksin. The city's SARA Park Campground features 10 campsites on the reservoir and along the banks of the river. The park includes a boat landing, playground, baseball diamond, public bathrooms with showers and a public beach. A maximum of 10 people is allowed at each campsite and leased pets are permitted.
Ten miles north of Tomahawk, the old-fashioned campgrounds of Terrace View are on a private beach on Muskellunge Lake. Pick from water and electrical hookups or, if you are a die-hard camper, go for the no-frills tent site. Either way, relax in loungers on the sandy beach, swim out to the diving raft in the lake, or rent a boat and fish for walleye, bass and muskie. Hikers and bikers can take a scenic tour on the historic Hiawatha trail about a mile from the campground.
