Pennsylvania Campgrounds With Dirt Biking

Campgrounds abound in Pennsylvania because of its vast expanses of rural and mountainous terrain. Many of these campgrounds also include trails for dirt biking. Campgrounds with dirt biking trails that are both government and privately owned are particularly prevalent in the western portion of the state.
  1. Prince Gallitzin State Park

    • The Prince Gallitzin State Park is spread out over 7,335-acres in the Allegheny Plateau section of western Pennsylvania. Features at the park include the 1,635-acre Glendale Lake that has 26 miles of shoreline as well as a large campground. In the northern part of the park, dirt biking is available on on a 20-mile network of trails that are also used for snowmobiling in the winter.       The campground has 401 sites for tenting and RV camping, including some with electric. Open from the second Friday in April until the last Monday in October, the campground has a camp store with a laundry facility, a swimming beach, a boat mooring area, boat rentals, playgrounds, showers, flush toilets and a dump station.

    Allegheny National Forest

    • The Allegheny National Forest in western Pennsylvania includes the Marienville/Timberline ATV/Bike Trail, which has 76.3 miles of trails that wind through forested areas of the Marienville District of the Allegheny National Forest. The trails are open for dirt biking from the Friday before Memorial Day until the last Sunday in September.

      Camping is permitted at certain sites along the trail, providing your equipment does not block the trail. The campgrounds along the trails are primitive, although they do have vault toilets, hand-pumped water, picnic tables and fire rings with no grills. Campgrounds that are much more developed can be found in many other locations throughout this national forest area.

    Four Seasons Resort

    • The Four Seasons Resort in southwestern Pennsylvania has both a campground and trails for ATVs and dirt bikes. It has 26 miles of trails located on 850 acres in a forested area. The trails provide easy access to the campground, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a snack bar and a motocross track.

      Visitors can opt to stay in everything from motel rooms, cabins and at a primitive campground. Some of the campground sites have water and electric, and others also have sewer. More recreational facilities include sand volleyball and basketball courts, athletic fields, a paved area for rollerblading and a horseshoe pit. Permits are required on the bike trails, which are closed during the hunting season.
