Campers and train enthusiasts alike will enjoy Stony Fork Campground and the nearby Tioga Central Railroad. With over 90 acres of scenic woodlands and 214 tent, RV, and cabin sites, Stony Fork is located near the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, also known as Pine Creek Gorge, a 47-mile long and 1,450-foot deep natural canyon. Campground activities include a swimming pool, fully stocked fishing streams and ponds, pedal boats, hiking on the Pine Creek Rail Trail, and special weekend activities for kids.
The Tioga Central Railroad is just miles away from Stony Fork in the Wellsboro area. Its 34 miles of rails extend north from Pennsylvania to Corning, New York. Family-friendly rides include Dining Trains with meals or appetizer selections; the Ice Cream Express, a Friday night one-and-a-half-hour ride with make-your-own sundaes and a special souvenir cup; and the Santa Express offered in November, where children get to pick up Santa for a magical ride. Reservations should be made in advance for all train rides.
