Campgrounds in Northwest Florida

Sometimes called the state's panhandle, northwest Florida encompasses Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Frankling, Gulf, Holmes, Liberty, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton and Washington counties. For tourists, the region offers a number of attractions, including Panama City Beach, Fort Walton Beach, the Blackwater River State Forest and the Apalachiola National Forest. Visitors to northwest Florida have many options for accommodations, including a number of campgrounds.
  1. Ho Hum RV Park

    • A beachfront campground in Carrabelle, Ho-Rum RV Park is only 6 miles from Tate's Hell State Forest, which provides canoeing, kayaking and fishing for visitors. The park has 50 sites, 26 of which are pull-throughs and 30 feet by 70 feet in size. The remaining back-in sites measure 30 feet by 60 feet. All of the spots have full hookups, wireless Internet and cable connections. Amenities include restrooms, showers, a waste dump, laundry facilities, public phones and RV supplies. Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the park accommodates saltwater fishing and swimming. According to park rules, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on the property; the park caters mainly to seniors and adults, explains the official website.

    Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort

    • Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort is a family-friendly campground located in the town of Panama City Beach, approximately 1 mile from the shore. The park offers 138 paved campsites with full patios, including 25 pull-throughs that are 35 feet by 70 feet. The back-ins are 35 feet by 60 feet in size, and big rig spots are also available. All of the sites have full hookup and 75-channel, cable television. Wireless internet is available for an additional fee. In addition to its bathhouses, laundry facilities and waste dump, the camp has propane, firewood and RV supplies on the premises. For recreation, the resort offers a heated, in-ground pool and a private, stocked pond for freshwater fishing. Shuffleboard, bike rentals, horseshoes and a playground are also located on the property. The community center hosts exercise classes every morning, a breakfast for guests on weekends and first-run, new movies every Friday night.

    Blackwater River State Park

    • Blackwater River State Park is a public, state-run park located around 40 miles northeast of Pensacola. The park features 30 dirt sites, each with full hookups, picnic tables, a fire-pit and a grill. The sites are all back-ins and can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet long or tent camping. Restrooms, showers, a waste dump and firewood are available at the park. The campground is the start of the Juniper Lake Trail, a path for hikers that leads along the Blackwater River. A playground is available for children, and campers can swim, boat and fish in the river.
