Shakamak, Indiana Cabins

Shakamak, Indiana, is home to the 400-acre Shakamak State Park in Jasonville. The park is ideal for those looking for a quiet place to camp or hike four miles of trails. The park also has three lakes for fishing, boating, and swimming. For families or large student groups looking to visit Shakamak, Indiana, the state park offers the best deal in cabin rentals.

  1. Family Cabins

    • Seasonal family cabins at the Shakamak State Park are available for rent from April to October. The park recommends that you book your cabin(s) as early as possible to ensure your family gets one. The seasonal cabins accommodate six people and offer both comfort and privacy. Each cabin has two bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has two sets of bunk beds. The cabin includes a dining area, a kitchen with a stove and refrigerator, one full bathroom and a fireplace. You will need to provide your own bed linens, kitchen utensils, towels and firewood. Collecting wood in the park is not permitted and will result in immediate eviction. Firewood may be purchased from the park's main office. Children under the age of 18 must remain in the custody of their parents or an adult at all times while staying in the park.

    Group Cabins

    • The group cabins at Shakamak Park are designed to hold as many as 270 student campers and adults. These cabins comprise the largest facilities within the park. The cabins include dorm-like rooms, a shower house and large dining areas with a kitchen. The park's nature center has programs to teach students about Indiana ecology. The park allows group cabins to be rented for one week to one month, depending on the number of reservations the park receives during peak seasons.

    Camping Cabin Rentals

    • These cabin rentals are open from April to November and overlook the Shakamak Lake. Camping cabins offer an alternative to traditional outdoor camping. There are seven cabins in the Shakamak Park campground---each accommodating six campers---that can be rented for a weekend. While electricity is available in these cabins, you will have to hike to the public shower houses since there is no running water. You must also bring your own coolers and grills since there are no kitchen facilities in these cabins. For those who want modern conveniences, fine Indiana golf courses, dinning and shopping are nearby.
