Potato Creek runs through a region locally known as Michiana, and into Worster Lake in Potato Creek State Park. This Indiana state park offers water sports, hiking, and cabins, and is only 30 minutes from southern Lake Michigan. Potato Creek State Park lies 12 miles southwest of South Bend, Indiana. The park features Potato Creek and the 327-acre Worster Lake. The 17 family cabins with living areas, kitchens, bathroom facilities, and bedrooms sleep four to eight people. Fields, woodlands, and wetlands make up this state park and offer a wide range of activities, including bicycling, hiking, boating, fishing, and horseback riding. The park has bicycle trails, bridle trails, two boat launch ramps, camps, cabins, a camp store, a dump station, and a nature center. Also available is a playground, and bicycle, canoe, and paddleboat rentals. The lake has a beach and allows swimming. For large groups, a recreation building is available.

Koontz Lake is located in Walkerton, about 10 miles south of Potato Creek State Park. Koontz Lake Rentals offers four lakeside cabins: The Tree House Chalet, Lily's Pad, Fisherman's Cove, and The Garden Cottage. Each cabin has two or three bedrooms that sleep seven to nine people. Cabins come with fully-equipped kitchens, central air and heat, and hot tubs. All four properties are next door to each other, with plenty of yard space, and they line the shore of the 365-acre lake. Included with the cabins is a lakefront boardwalk which allows fishing, a sand volleyball court, and a horseshoe pit. Each cabin has its own fire pit, row boat, and pier to dock your boat. The lake offers fishing, water-skiing, canoeing, and beautiful sandbars for swimming.

Fuller's Resort offers an authentic 1887 rustic log cabin with roughhewn walls, stone fireplace, and wood floors. Only 22 miles north of Potato Creek State Park in Buchanan, Michigan, and located on 80-acre Clear Lake, it is an easy drive to Potato Creek State Park. Clear Lake offers 400 feet of sandy beach and a wooded country campground setting. Swimming, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing are encouraged on the lake, and there is a candy counter at the local pavilion which sells ice cream. The cabin can sleep two to twelve very easily. One large sleeping area is upstairs, and one living area is downstairs. The cabin has four bunk beds, two twin beds, and one queen-size bed. Electricity and new windows have been added, as well as a full refrigerator and microwave. The front offers a large outdoor area with a fire ring, picnic tables, and a grill. The cabin does not have running water, a sink, or restroom facilities, but these are close by. You need your own linens or sleeping bags for the bunk beds, but linens are provided for the other beds. Pets and smoking are not allowed.
