Minnesota has so much to offer the outdoor enthusiast as well as the person who loves to dine out and enjoy entertainment. While Minnesota has earned quite the reputation for its frigid winter temperatures and heavy snowfall, it is actually filled with things to do during the summer months. With so many resorts in Minnesota, whether playing at the casino or going camping, there is something for everyone. In Cloquet and Barnum specifically, many resorts are just waiting to be enjoyed.
The Big Lake Resort is a resort for campers and offers not only the stunning scenery of Minnesota’s nature-filled backdrop but also so many things to do around the area. You can go skiing at Spirit Mountain or whitewater rafting on the Midway River. The resort is also next to Big Lake, where you can swim to your heart's content. Whitewater paddling is offered on the Cloquet River as well. You can golf at the Big Lake Golf Course or go fishing. During the summer the temperatures are perfect, usually in the 80s with overnight lows usually dipping only to the 50s. Also nearby are Moose Lake and Jay Cooke state parks. Many come to camp at the resort just for its close proximity to Moose Lake State Park. A warning: June is the wettest month, with typically lots of precipitation, so when you book, keep that in mind if you prefer to camp at the resort during the summer.
