RV Campgrounds Near Hattiesburg, Mississippi

Hattiesburg, Mississippi, located about midway between the Magnolia State's capital at Jackson and New Orleans, is the home of the University of Southern Mississippi. Founded in 1882 by Captain William H. Hardy, a civil engineer and lumberman, the town was named in honor of Hardy's wife, Hattie, and is today the commercial, medical and educational center for the people of southeast Mississippi. RVers who visit the area will find several campgrounds and RV parks to accommodate them.

    • Only 6.5 miles south-southeast of center-city Hattiesburg, this 23-site RV park offers full hookups, including free cable TV, at all sites. Other on-site amenities include free wireless Internet access, a restaurant, convenience store, showers, restrooms, self-laundry facilities and 24-hour security. The campground posts daily, weekly and monthly rates and is located just across the road from the back gate to Paul B. Johnson State Park.

    Cypress Hill RV Park

    • This full-service campground, located beside a 13-acre lake, is about 14 miles from downtown Hattiesburg. Full hookups are provided at all sites, and big rigs are welcome. Amenities include a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free wireless Internet access, bathhouse, camp store, self-laundry facilities, fishing pond and propane station. A limited number of rental cabins are also available here.

    Little Black Creek Water Park RV Campground

    • Part of the Pat Harrison Waterway District, Little Black Creek Water Park, located between Purvis and Lumberton, Mississippi, has several campgrounds, including a 106-site RV park. The RV campground, 22 miles from downtown Hattiesburg, provides water and electric hookups at all sites and sewer hookups at 82 sites. For those unable to rent a site with sewer hookup, the campground has a dump station. A few of the campsites are located along the shore of the park's lake.

    Okatoma Resort & RV Park

    • This 78-site campground, located 13.5 miles northwest of center-city Hattiesburg, can handle RVs of all sizes and offers several lakefront sites, as well as others that provide excellent lake views. Full hookups are available at all sites, six of which are pull-throughs. Amenities include a clubhouse with kitchen and dining facilities, as well as a lounge with satellite TV; seasonal outdoor swimming pool and wading pool; dump station; library; and self-laundry facilities. The operators of the park also offer some primitive campsites for tenters beside a nearby creek.

    Paul B. Johnson State Park Campground

    • Roughly 17 miles south-southeast of downtown Hattiesburg, this state park campground offers surprisingly well-equipped facilities for a public campground. For RV camping, there are 125 campsites with full hookups, as well as plentiful picnic tables and grills scattered throughout the camping area. Other amenities at or near the campground include a dump station, three bathhouses and a private beach/swimming area.
