Dismantle the turntables to the best of your ability. Remove the needles from the arms of the turntables to avoid unnecessary scraping to the unit, or ruining of the needle completely. Use masking tape to hold the spinning deck in place prior to packing. Use the same tape to hold the arm in place, even if there is a locking mechanism. Taping ensures that it will not loosen if jostled.
Purchase bubble wrap that will envelope the piece on all sides. Preferably, a large piece that only opens at one end, allowing you to slide the turntable in completely then taping closed. This is only for protection of the surface areas, and to help hold the unit in place within the bubble wrap.
Locate a suitcase that will fit the unit in its entirety. Use a suitcase that has extra room, rather than one in which the unit fits snugly, so more padding can be added. Find a blanket or large towel that the bubble-wrapped turntable can be folded within for extra protection. Wrap the turntable on all sides, cinching the over-wrapped material with rope, or twine. Use a rope that is cloth or soft, to avoid any possible scratching.
Load the turntable into the suitcase, enclosing additional materials such as clothing, towels or an additional blanket in any open spaces of the suitcase, to avoid movement. Foam can be purchased from any craft store and cut into pieces to hold the unit in place, creating a lighter carrying case.
