Uganda has become a popular destination in recent years, and to encourage tourism, it is relatively simple to obtain a visa as long as the traveler has a current passport. Tourists to Uganda have three choices of visas, either a single-entry tourist visa, a transit visa or a multiple-entry visa. Single-entry and transit visas each cost $50, and the multiple-entry visa costs $200 but is valid for six months. Because visa requirements can change, it is recommended that travelers double-check with a local embassy for Uganda when planning a trip.
Apply for a single-entry visa or a transit visa for Uganda at any border crossing or at Entebbe Airport when landing in Uganda. Have $50 on hand to purchase the visa. The application process involves filling out a form with personal information and passport details. This is the simplest method of obtaining a visa for Uganda, and these are generally valid for up to 90 days. A multiple-entry visa cannot be obtained on arrival in Uganda.
Apply for a visa for Uganda online by downloading a visa application form from the Ugandan embassy (applicants should use the Web site of the embassy located in their country of origin). This method of obtaining a visa is suitable for the multiple-entry visa type, although travelers can also obtain a single-entry visa or a transit visa in this way.
Fill in the form and mail it back to the relevant Ugandan embassy along with two passport photos and a check for $200. It can take between four and six weeks to receive the visa once the form has been sent to the embassy, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time by applying for the visa at least two months prior to your trip.
