Visit the Embassy of Nepal Washington, D.C. U.S.A. website.
Select the "Visa" option to the left. When the hover menu appears, select the appropriate visa category for your trip. Guidelines differ according to the type of visa required. You may apply for diplomatic or official visas by submitting a request directly to the embassy, free of charge. However, tourism, study and business visas require an application, fees and supporting documents particular to them.
Select the appropriate visa category and review the requirements. A U.S. citizen interested in visiting Nepal for tourism will be required to submit a valid U.S. passport with at least six months validity remaining, a 2-by-2 inch passport-sized photo and application fees in addition to the application. The same citizen visiting Nepal for business must have a passport, passport photo, application, fees and a recommendation from a foreign investor licensed to invest in Nepal or export trade from there. Potential students would be required to submit proof of financial support necessary to cover their expenses in Nepal.
Print the visa application form and complete it. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat installed.
Gather the appropriate supporting documents. Your fees should be in the form of a check or money order made out to the Embassy of Nepal. Visit the website in regard to details on this, as fees differ according to type of visa and whether it is single or multiple-entry.
Include a sturdy self-addressed stamped envelope. Since your passport and visa documents will be returned in it, it's recommended that you include an Express or Priority mail envelope for added security.
Mail the application, fees and supporting documents to the Embassy of Nepal. Allow two weeks for the issuance of your visa.
