How to Get a Tourist Visa to Ecuador

If you are looking to travel to Ecuador, you will need to obtain a valid 12-IX visa from your nearest Ecuadorian consulate or embassy in order to stay for more than 90 days. Visas are used by travelers to provide documentation to officials and customs representatives when they cross international boundaries for temporary relocations and tourism purposes. With a completed application and the necessary supplemental documents, getting a tourist visa to Ecuador is quick and easy.

Instructions

  Fill out the tourist visa application 12-IX, also known as "Aplicación de Visa" in Ecuador. The application will ask you how long you are staying, the departure date from your country and the reason for your stay. Applications can be obtained online or at your nearest embassy or consulate and submitted at your nearest Ecuador embassy or consulate offices.

  Gather two color, 2-inch by 2-inch passport photographs on a white background, your original passport, a round-trip air ticket and any visas obtained from previous visits to Ecuador.

  Obtain a certificate of financial solvency, such as a bank letter with your monthly balance, a certificate stating your income, or other documents, that prove you have enough funds to reside in Ecuador for more than 90 days.

  Present the application, documents and a $230 check or money order to your nearest Ecuador embassy or consulate. The embassy representative or consular officer will process your visa request and grant you the tourist visa document.
