Cooking for a crowd can be challenging in a conventional kitchen. Cooking for a crowd when camping can seem almost impossible to a novice campfire cook. However, there are many dishes that are easy to prepare, even when camping. Recipes for pasta dishes and soups are easy to make for a crowd of campers.
Prepare quick and easy French toast bits. Tear up hamburger and hot dog buns into bite-sized chunks and dip them in an egg-milk-cinnamon wash. Fry them up in a skillet over a cookstove or on a rack over a fire pit with a hot bed of coals in it.
Bring along a bag of frozen hash browns or tater tots and make a breakfast bake big enough for a crowd. Mix one dozen eggs with a quarter cup of milk and eight slices of crumbled bacon together. Pour over the frozen potatoes, and bake in a covered skillet or Dutch oven until cooked through. If you'd like, throw in some fresh tomatoes, mushrooms or onions.
Skip cooking all together, and serve cold cereal and milk with fresh bananas and strawberries for a healthy start to your camping trip.
Make up an assortment of sandwiches cut into quarters. Serve with chips, fresh veggies and dip.
Prepare a large pot of beef stew before you leave for your camping trip. Simply reheat it and serve with biscuits.
Serve baked beans (homemade or canned) warm on toasted bread for a quick and easy old-fashioned lunch.
Bake cornbread in a Dutch oven using the coals from your fire, and serve with pre-made chili (either canned or homemade) that you heat over a campstove or over the coals.
Fry up some chicken drumsticks (two to three per person) in barbecue sauce in a skillet over the campfire. Serve with a fresh salad and potatoes wrapped in tin foil and baked right in the campfire.
Make spaghetti by boiling a large pot of noodles over the campfire and using jarred sauce. Serve with salad and garlic bread for an ultra-easy crowd pleaser.
