When using the train service at night, never wait on an empty platform. Most train stations have an off hours waiting area which is generally located near the station booth. This places single passengers within visibility of security cameras and attendants. If your train station does not have an off hours waiting area, try to arrive at the station moments before the train is scheduled to arrive.

If on a subway car or platform in a crowd and you feel someone touching you inappropriately, move away immediately. Inform the station's security officer or police department of any suspected sexual harassment incidents.
Never ride in an empty passenger car alone and be knowledgeable of your stop's neighborhood. Know what stores are usually open when you are walking from the station in case you are followed when leaving the train.
Never fall asleep when riding on a train. Pickpockets and other thieves tend to target passengers that ride alone or are sleeping. If standing in a crowd be aware if you are pushed or shoved, as this can be a sign that a pickpocket has struck. Never keep a wallet or money in your back pocket. If carrying a bag make sure that all openings are secure and it is in your view at all times.
If you accidentally drop personal items on the train tracks, inform a station employee immediately. Never attempt to retrieve items on a track, even if a train is not present. Trains can appear very quickly and with minimal warning, and some tracks carry up to 600 volts of electricity. If crossing any train tracks, only do so at pedestrian crossings and when lawful signs give you the all clear.
