How to Renew a Passport in Atlanta in Person

If you have an unexpected need to travel internationally for work or a family emergency, you may have to renew your passport in less than the six- to eight-week wait time. Your passport must be renewed every 16 years for air travel, and this can be done in person if you must travel within a few weeks. In Atlanta, you can go in person to the passport agency to meet with an adviser. By the end of the day, you will have your renewed passport.

Instructions

  Print the passport renewal application from the Department of State's website. Complete the DS-82 application with the information from your passport. Have your passport and fees available. (See Reference 2)

  Schedule an appointment at the Atlanta passport office. Arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment, because it cannot be rescheduled, and the office will not wait for you to arrive. Check in at the desk and wait for your number to be called. (See Reference 2)

  Meet with the adviser and confirm the information. Once confirmed, the adviser will pass the item on, and you must wait for the passport to be completed.
