How to Replace a Lost Indian Passport

A lost Indian passport is an inconvenience - it will disrupt travel plans, and require applying for a replacement passport, which will take time and money. You will need to fill out forms and gather the appropriate documents and photographs. You must pay a minimum of 2500 rupees (depending on the time frame you're looking at). The Indian government has made it a relatively smooth process and, once the application is submitted, the passport could be issued in one day.
