Locate your local passport acceptance facility. These are government-appointed offices, such as post offices, public libraries and Clerks of Court.
Appear in person at the Passport Acceptance facility. Minor child and both parents or legal guardians must appear in person. If only one parent has sole custody then only that parent is required to appear.
Fill out a new application, DS-11, for a passport renewal.
Submit form DS-11, child's proof of citizenship, parent's proof of identity, evidence of relationship between minor child and parents, and two passport photos to the passport acceptance agent and pay the $60 child's passport fee by cash, credit card, check or money order.
Your minor child's new passport will be mailed within four to six weeks of submitting his or her application.
