How to Obtain a Jordan Passport

Jordanian citizens interested in international travel must first possess a government-issued passport. The passport is a legal document that identifies the nationality and citizenship of a traveler, thereby granting them clearance into foreign countries and territories. A Jordanian passport also permits re-entry into the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the national entitled to it. Applying for one can be done within Jordan and overseas at a Jordanian embassy or consulate office.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the Jordanian Consulate in your jurisdiction. Refer to an online database, such as EmbassiesAbroad.com, or search the government section of local telephone directories. You will need to apply for a passport in person at the office nearest you.

    • 2

Set an appointment at the consulate and complete a passport application form. For minor applicants, the father must provide a written affidavit stating that a fee will be paid if the child's passport is lost or damaged.

    • 3

Provide four identical passport photos. They must be in color, measure 3.5 by 4.5 cm, and be taken against a white background. The photos should show a frontal view of the applicant's face without glasses, hats or headgear, with the exception of religious attire worn regularly.

    • 4

Provide proof of your Jordanian citizenship by presenting a copy of your official birth certificate in the original Arabic translation. A valid family book obtained from a Jordan diplomatic mission will also be required as evidence of your nationality.

    • 5

Submit your application and travel materials to the consulate and pay the passport fees. This will vary according to your country of residence, but is normally nonrefundable and paid in the local currency. An expedited service is available at an extra cost; otherwise expect to collect your Jordanian passport in one to two business weeks.
