Getting Started
Know what you need to obtain a replacement birth certificate . To obtain a birth certificate you will need a valid drivers license or state ID card (A passport is also acceptable) . Some states may require additional forms of identification , such as your Social Security card. Check with your state recorders office to confirm exactly what you need .
Applying in Person
Walk in to your local recorders office . To receive your birth certificate you must go to the office in the county of which you were born .
Fill out the proper birth certificate form and turn it in to the window .
Pay the fee (Usually about $25). Upon turning in your application and paying the fee , you will be presented with a brand new birth certificate.
Obtaining a Birth Certificate Online
There are countless websites that will send a new birth certificate to you for a nominal fee. These websites are easy to find and can be found through a simple Google search . These websites will charge about $30 - $40 for their service . Upon filling out the necessary online forms and completely payment , you will receive a new birth certificate in the mail with 1 - 2 weeks.
