How to Get a Certified Birth Certificate

A certified copy of a birth certificate is required to obtain a passport. A certified birth certificate is not an ordinary copy; it must have a raised embossed seal on it. It also must show the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office. If you must get a new one, you need to act early since delivery can take up to six weeks.
