Gather all of your documentation. This includes proof of U.S. Citizenship (birth certificate) and proof of identity (driver's license or current military ID).
Visit www.travel.state.gov for the proper paperwork. Complete it in black ink and fill out all of the required information. If you do not have internet access, visit your local Magistrates Office or Post Office for the passport application kit.
Next, you will need to have 2 color photographs taken. The size requirements are very strict so it is best to visit a Walgreens or CVS and have them taken the photos. It only takes a few minutes and costs around $7.00.
Visit your local Magistrate's Office or State Office to complete the process. The fees may vary, and expedited delivery is also available if traveling soon. You will need to pay with a check or money order made out to U.S. Department of State.
Your passport should arrive in the mail within 2 to 4 weeks, unless ordering expedited delivery.
