How to Replace an Expired Passport in Person in New Jersey

Every 10 years your passport expires; once it expires, you cannot travel internationally. In fact, many countries do not let you enter with a valid passport that is slated to expire less than six months from your travel date. Ideally, you should renew your passport well before the expiration date. New Jersey residents can visit any passport acceptance facility to file the necessary paperwork to renew their passports. Your renewed passport will arrive at your door six to eight weeks after you submit your renewal application.
