How to Renew a DMV Handicap Permit in Virginia

According to Virginia state law, any individual with a handicap placard is required to renew the placard every five years. This is to help ensure that those whose injuries may have healed or otherwise rendered them ineligible do not burden the system. A doctor's note is not required for a renewal. Neglecting to renew may result in fines or problems in your handicap qualification.

     Enter your driver's license number in the "ID" field, and your date of birth.

     Enter your placard's ID number when prompted.

   • 4

     Enter all additional information required, including current address, phone number and body weight.

   • 5

     Enter your credit card or bank account number at the prompt for payment.
