Sun Country Airlines Carry-On Rules

Sun Country Airlines is a low-cost carrier based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Established in 1982 as a charter airline, it has expanded to a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft with routes to 18 U.S. cities as well as Mexico, the Caribbean and London, England. There are several important carry-on luggage regulations that must be followed when traveling on the airline.
  1. General Requirements

    • Carry-on baggage at Sun Country is limited to one piece with a maximum weight of 35 lbs. and a total dimension of 45 inches (including wheels and handles). Passengers must stowed it the overhead bin or under the seat and it must fit easily in the carry-on sizer boxes near the gate area. The airline also allows one additional personal item for free that must be placed under the seat and it allows certain larger items such as mobility equipment (crutches, walkers and canes) and child safety seats, which passengers must store in the overhead bins or under the seats.

    Pets

    • The airline allows small dogs and cats (with a maximum weight of 16 lbs.) in the aircraft cabin for flights within the contiguous United States. Pets are not allowed on international flights or on flights to Alaska. The passenger cannot be assigned a seat in row one, a bulkhead, an aisle or an exit row. Each pet must be in a soft-sided leak-proof carrier with the maximum dimensions of 16-by-11-by-8 inches. The airlines allows only one pet per ticketed passenger and charges a $100 non-refundable fee per flight. The pet carrier is considered a carry-on item and counts as the one-piece carry-on allowance for passengers.

    Child Restraint Systems

    • FAA-approved child restraint systems are allowed in the aircraft cabin only when a ticket is purchased for the child. Booster seats are not permitted and any child restraint system without the purchase of a ticket must checked-in as luggage.
