Located on the Miami River, Troy, Ohio, was voted the winner of the "Best Hometown" award from "Ohio Magazine." It is the largest city in Miami County and is part of the Dayton metropolitan area.   1. Museums

    • The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center was originally the home of Mary Jane Hayner. Originally constructed in 1914, this mansion is now a thriving community arts center, displaying exhibits and offering theatrical performances, films and educational workshops for the entire family. Admission is free.

      The recently renovated Waco Air Museum tells the history of the WACO Aircraft Company and the history of flight through a variety of exhibits displayed in a spacious new hangar. The museum also offers educational classes and an airfield for radio-controlled aircraft.

    Outdoor Activities

    • The Bruckner Nature Center is a private, nonprofit nature reserve. The center boasts many nature trails which are open daily, as well as a variety of clubs and seminars on topics such as gardening, beekeeping and birds.

      Troy Country Club is home to an 18-hole golf course, several tennis courts and a swimming pool. It is also an good venue for events such as weddings, anniversaries and reunions.

    Historical Landmarks

    • Built over the Miami River by the Hamilton brothers in 1860, the Eldean Covered Bridge is 224 feet long, making it one of the longest covered bridges in Ohio. The bridge was restored in 2006 and has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places for over 35 years.

      The 1804 Iddings Log House was the home of Benjamin Iddings and his family. It is believed to be the oldest structure in Miami County. The house underwent restoration work in 2006 and in 2007 was honored with a commemorative marker.

    • Eleanors Tea Cottage is a great place to enjoy a lovely high tea. It offers a variety of teas, as well as scones, cakes, soup and sandwiches. In addition to the tea room there is also a gift shop which is open from Tuesday to Saturday. It sells teas, tea accessories and handmade toiletries and lotions.

      Tin Roof on the Miami is a locally owned restaurant specializing in country home cooking, including meats which are grilled using shelled corn as fuel, giving them a unique and delicious flavor. They also provide seating and service for special events.
