The town of Red River, New Mexico is a vacation destination for skiers in the winter and hikers and fishermen in the summer. Hot Chili Days, Cool Mountain Nights in August offers a music festival and cook-off in one. Cook-offs are held in Brandenburg Park and include a chili, green chile and barbecue event. Meanwhile, venues throughout town offer live music during the three-day festival.

Oktoberfest comes to Red River for Columbus Day Weekend. The festival features many contests including beer judging, bratwurst eating, stein holding and Ms. Oktoberfest. Red River's Oktoberfest also features traditional German food, live music and local microbrews.
