Red River is a resort town in northern New Mexico in Toas County, which offers the Rocky Mountains part of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The town features skiing in the winter months at the Red River Ski Area and hiking, biking, and golfing in the summer months. The town is 36 miles from Taos and 106 from Santa Fe. The region features several restaurants and shopping opportunities. There are several cabins featuring secluded getaways for families and couples.
The Tall Pine Resort features 38 secluded acres and 23 cabins. The resort opened in 1920, as a campground for those who settled in the region after the 1895 gold rush, and was later turned into a resort. The cabins were originally built in the 1950s and still exemplify the architectural style of that time, even with some upgrades throughout the years. They feature a furnished kitchen, bathrooms with showers, porches with mountain views, and outdoor grills. Opportunities for fishing are on the property as well as hiking and scenic walks. The Tall Pine Store is on the property and sells fishing supplies, ice cream, and other necessities.

The Riverside Lodge and Cabins features 30 cabins offering one to three bedroom options. Each features a full kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, and cookware. Additionally, a telephone, television, and fireplaces are supplied. The area offers skiing (in the winter months), fishing, hiking trails, biking, and nearby shopping in Taos. The cabins, although secluded, feature a playground area for those on family vacations with children. Log furnishings fill most of the cabins, giving them the feel of outdoors while still offering modern conveniences.
