Pet-Friendly Cabins in Red River, New Mexico

Skiing, hiking, fishing and beautiful natural scenery are all a part of New Mexico's Red River area. Located north of Taos near the Colorado border, Red River is a part of the majestic Carson National Forest. Red River is relatively small and not yet packed with tourists, so it offers a beautiful place to enjoy skiing in the winter and hiking, fishing and swimming in the summer. Pets are not welcome in all of Red River's resorts and cabins, but some cabins are available that will accommodate pets.
  1. Deer Lodge

    • Deer Lodge offers guests a cabin experience that is rustic, but still civilized compared to some camping experiences. Cable TV, a dry sauna, a picnic area and a barbecue grill are all located on the property, which is in the downtown area of Red River. Cabins range from one-room efficiencies to three-bedroom, two-bath apartment-style cabins. Deer Lodge is named for the herds of deer that will occasionally be seen coming down the mountain to have a drink of fresh water. Pets of all sizes are welcome at Deer Lodge.

    Rio Colorado Lodge

    • The Rio Colorado Lodge is located on the banks of the Red River outside the town of Red River in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico. Individual cabins are available in one-, two- or three-bedroom styles and contain fireplaces, cable TV and kitchens or kitchenettes. The property has a barbecue area, a picnic area, a playground and a private fishing pond for guest use only. The pond is stocked with trout weekly from May until September. The Rio Colorado welcomes all pets as guests at the Lodge.

    Tall Pine Resort

    • Tall Pine Resort offers cabin camping without many luxuries, but with beautiful mountain scenery and the basic necessities for spending time in the woods. The cabins can sleep from one to eight people and come equipped with stoves, refrigerators, bathrooms and showers. The cabins do not come with televisions, phones, microwaves or dishwashers. Pets are welcome at Tall Pine as long as they are well behaved and kept on leashes. A cleaning fee may be charged for cabins with pets ($25 as of October 2010).
