Birch Bay, just off the coast of Blaine, Washington, is 100 miles north of Seattle and 50 miles south of Vancouver in Canada. Annual events include the Annual Birch Bay Sand Castle Contest and the Birch Bay Polar Bear Plunge held every year on New Years Day, where brave souls from around the world dive into the frigid waters of the bay in order to receive an "I Took the Plunge" certificate.
The Bay Cafe is a family-friendly restaurant owned and operated by local residents Dave Bucknell and Tammy Pearce. Free Wi-Fi Internet access is provided for customers and the cafe offers both indoor and outdoor seating for days with pleasant weather. Entrees include clam chowder with grilled panini and hot dogs. All hot dogs use Kosher ingredients from Hebrew National. Breakfast is served all day.

Great Blue Heron Grill is located within the Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club. Decor includes a rock fireplace and deck seating with a view of the golf course and ponds. In addition to its full bar, alcoholic beverages include fine wines and local micro-brews. Food can be ordered to go and the grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Happy-hour service is provided every day from 3:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.

Entrees at CJ Wijns (pronounced "wines") include soups, sandwiches and pizzas. These are served along with a vast selection of wines from around the world and nearly a dozen varieties of coffee. It offers "Saturday Sips" every Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., which is a $5 wine tasting party. Another monthly event is "Wijning Women", a monthly women's-only party held in the restaurant.
