How to Retrieve an E-Ticket for a Flight

Technology makes travel easier -- and less cluttered. Much of the business done by airlines is online; travelers search for airfare and book tickets right from their computers, which eliminates the need for paper tickets from the airline. Instead, airlines offer e-tickets, which are email receipts for your flight that contain a confirmation number. When it's time to check in for your flight, you need no ticket -- just your confirmation number -- because your ticket information is stored in your airline's computer reservation system.

Instructions

Visit the website from which you purchased the tickets for your flight. Sign in to your account. Locate the link for your personal reservations, and click on it.

View your reservations and select the reservation for which you need the e-ticket. Click on it and either print or make a note of your confirmation number. Use your confirmation number to check in to your flight online or at the airline's check in kiosk at the airport.

Log in to your email to recover the email you received upon completion of your airfare purchase. Airlines send travelers a confirmation email once your purchase is complete. This confirmation email states your confirmation number and travel itinerary information.
