US Airways Express Baggage Rules

Familiarizing yourself with airline baggage rules before you travel is a smart idea that makes for a smoother trip. US Airways Express is a network of eight airlines operating under a service agreement with US Airways; baggage regulations for these eight airlines are the same as those for US Airways. Rules are valid as of October 2010 and are subject to change at the airlines' discretion.
  1. Checked Bag Fees

    • For all flights as of 2010, the fee for your first checked bag is $25. The fee for your second checked bag is $35, and the fee for any additional bags, up to the nine bag limit, is $100 each. Bags must be 50 lbs or less to avoid overweight bag fees.

    Carry-on Bag Fees

    • There is no fee for carry-on items. Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item. Personal items are usually purses, laptops, baby bags and similar items.

    Size and Weight Limits

    • Carry-on baggage must be 40 lbs or less and 14 by 9 by 22 inches, for a combined total of 45 inches or less. There is a $50 extra fee, in addition to normal fees, for checked bags that are between 51 lbs and 70 lbs. The additional fee for checked bags between 71 lbs and 100 lbs is $100. For bags between 63 inches and 80 inches, there is an additional $100 fee. Bags over 80 inches are not permitted.

    Prohibited Items

    • Knives, scissors and other sharp objects, as well as firearms, explosives and a variety of chemicals, are all prohibited from carry-on bags. Certain items like explosives and various chemicals are also prohibited from checked bags. A complete list of prohibited items is available online (see Resources).
