How to Activate a Blue Card
The Little Blue Card is a plastic card that allows residents of the Santa Monica, California, area and tourists to ride the Big Blue Bus, which provides public transportation throughout the city. The card works like cash to pay your bus fare. It also allows you to buy multiple fares and transfers directly on the bus. You can load your Blue Card in $5 or $10 dollar increments.

Visit the Big Blue Bus website or go to the Transit Store and Customer Service Center, 223 Broadway in Santa Monica, to buy a Blue Card.

Board the Big Blue Bus and tell the driver you would like to activate your Blue Card.

Insert the card into the fare box when the bus driver tells you to. This will activate the card. When you board the bus in the future, you can swipe it or insert it to pay your bus fare.
