Hardy Dam, Michigan Campgrounds

There are many campgrounds throughout the Michigan Manistee National Forest, especially in the Hardy Dam area. The Hardy Dam creates a six-mile flooding area of the Muskegon River that is now called the Hardy Dam Pond. It's just upriver from Croton Dam, and most of the land in between is public. The area is surrounded by state- and national-protected old growth hardwood forests that include trees of very diverse species. Walking between the two dams along the riverside trail is popular daytime activity among Hardy Dam visitors.
