Campgrounds in Hillsdale, Michigan

Campers in the Hillsdale area of Southern Michigan have a variety of campgrounds from which to choose. The landscape and natural beauty of the area make it a pleasant area to plant your camper for a few days or even a few weeks while enjoying the lakes, trails and wooded areas surrounding the campgrounds. Travelers can also spend time in the town of Hillsdale to experience its rural tranquility and Farmers Market.
  1. Gateway Park

    • Gateway Park, located on South Sand Lake in Hillsdale Michigan provides a clean and comfortable campground with wooded acres at the gateway to the Irish Hills. You can find the Gateway Park Campground on West Hallett Road on the western edge of Hillsdale. The campgrounds provides pull-through sites, back-in sites and sites for pop-ups and tents. Guests at the campgrounds have access to the campground amenities which include a pool, playground, game room and camp store. Each trailer/RV site has electric and water hookups, sewer hook-ups and patio facilities with a fire-ring. Campers who come to the area in late September can enjoy the Hillsdale County Fair with its demolition derby, tractor pull and other events for kids and adults.

    Sugarbush

    • Campers who want to have access to fishing, swimming, hiking, volleyball, and basketball activities can stay at the Sugarbush campgrounds on Sand Lake Road along Hillsdale's western boundary. There are campsites for primitive tent campers as well as for campers who wish to camp with their pop-up or RV. Sugarbush invites guests to enjoy their swimming pond, playground and crafts rooms. There is also a pavilion for large groups on the grounds. Campers have access to Sugarbush's indoor bathrooms with hot showers, camp store and may purchase ice, propane and firewood at the campground. Visitors may wish to experience Hillsdale's Silos Fun Park, open in Hillsdale from late spring through early fall. Silos offers family fun with go-kart tracks, bumper boats, an 18-hole miniature golf course, a video and redemption arcade and golf driving.

    Six Lakes Campground

    • The Six Lakes Campground sits on the edge of Boot Lake along Hudson Road in Hillsdale, two miles east of the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds. Campers can stay in their camping site for a day or several weeks. The grounds have docks and ramps available for campers who want to use their boats to fish or travel the boat channels to Bass, First, Second, Cain,or Baw Beese Lakes. The campgrounds offer full hook-up sites as well as more simple water and electric-only sites, with clean restrooms and hot showers available to all. Travelers who want to use their time to shop for deals in the area can visit Allen Antique Barn, south of Hillsdale, which offers a large selection of antiques and collectibles.

    Way Back in Campground

    • The Way Back in Campground in Jonesville, 18 minutes from Hillsdale, provides a wooded camping area with activities organized around holiday and themed weekends. The campground has sites for campers and RVs with water and 30 amp electric hook up. Way Back also offers rustic sites where campers can camp in tents or in the open in more rustic conditions. Campers who don't want to participate in the organized activities can stroll along area nature trails that run around the park, or can canoe or fish on the St. Joseph river. The campground has horseshoe, basketball and volleyball facilities. Visitors who come to camp in mid-May can join the Jonesville Riverfest with a full weekend of entertainment, sports and music activities.
