Washington State Park Model RV Regulations

Though each of the dozens of parks that make up the Washington State Park system develop their own rules, the state does offer a general set of regulations. As not all parks have the same facilities, conveniences or activities --- some offer water sports, camping or hiking --- these rules may not apply to each location.
  1. Hours

    • In Washington state parks that offer campgrounds for recreational vehicles (RVs), campers may check in as late as 10 p.m. Check-in begins at 2:30 p.m. and check-out is 1 p.m., though park hours vary depending on weather and season. Campsites cannot be held for someone that is expected to arrive at a later time. Unless rules at the individual parks say otherwise, quiet times are 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. For RVs that use engine-driven generators, these may only be operated from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. RV campers may stay 10 days at the campground during the summer months, but between October and March, campers may stay for 20 days.

    Maintenance

    • Campers, which cannot exceed eight people per site, are responsible for the maintenance of their sites. They must dispose of their trash in trash cans and bins, and are encouraged to recycle among designated bins. In parks with pack-it-in/pack-it-out programs, campers must carry everything out of the park that they brought in. All wildlife, trees and plants are protected. Park buildings, signs, tables and facilities must not be carved or written on or damaged in any way, and they may not be removed from the park. Campers are not permitted to harm, interfere with or feed the animals in the state parks.

    Activities

    • All Washington state laws are strictly enforced in the state's parks. Campers may bring pets into most locations, but campers are encouraged to check the rules of the individual camps. Many campsites do not permit horses. Pets must be kept on a leash that is no more than 8 feet long at all times, and pet owners must clean up after the animals. Pets, glass bottles and aluminum or metal cans are not allowed on designated swimming beaches. Alcohol is only allowed in designated campgrounds and picnic areas. Fireworks are not permitted in any state parks or beaches.
