RV Campgrounds in Placer County, California

Established in 1851, Placer County, California, covers 1,506 square miles of land approximately 60 miles northeast of Sacramento. The county is home to a number of attractions, including Lake Tahoe, the American River Bike Trail in the Sierra Nevada mountains and historic Sutter's Mill, the site of the 1849 Gold Strike. Visitors to Placer County have a variety of accommodations to choose from, including public and private campgrounds.

    • Located in the county seat city of Auburn, the Auburn Gold Country RV park is near Sutter's Mill and Old Nevada City. The campground consists of 66 recreational vehicle campsites, some of which feature a pull-through design. Full electric, water and sewage hookups are available at every lot, and wireless Internet is accessible throughout the park. Restrooms, showers, a waste dump and laundry facilities are on site. Guests can swim in the park's heated swimming pool, soak in its hot tub, watch television in its indoor lounge or fish in its small, stocked pond. A playground and basketball courts are also provided.

    Tahoe National Forest French Meadows Campground

    • Operated by the U.S. National Forest Service, Tahoe National Forest Campground is home to California's shores of Lake Tahoe. The campground features 73 paved campsites, which measure 11 feet by 42 feet and can only accommodate back-in parking. Each spot is outfitted with a grill and picnic tables. The park provides no connections. Restrooms are located adjacent to the campground, but have only flush toilets and no showers. A public phone is available, and firewood is sold on-site. French Meadows Reservoir is adjacent to the campground and features a boating ramp for power-boating and water-skiing. The reservoir is also a favorite spot for rainbow and brown trout fishing. The RV park is open from May to October. The National Forest Service imposes a 14-day maximum length on all stays at the park.

    Dutch Flat RV Resort

    • Situated 25 miles northeast of Auburn, Dutch Run Flat RV Resort is less than 2 miles from the Golden Drift Museum in the small, historic town of Dutch Flat. The RV park offers 62 campsites, 11 of which are pull-through spaces large enough to accommodate vehicles up to 70 feet in length, while the remaining back-in sites are 50 feet long. Full water, electric and sewage hookups are featured at each spot. On-site amenities include restrooms, showers, a waste dump, public telephones and an ATM. The resort features a small convenience store that sells gas, snacks, ice, basic groceries and propane. A restaurant is also located on the property as well as a swimming pool and game room. The campground is open year-round. Pets are welcome.
