RV Campgrounds near Waterloo, Iowa

Waterloo, Iowa, is in the northeast part of the state and on the banks of the Cedar River. The George Wyth State Park is next to the city, and there are lakes in the area. The state park has several trails to explore. The Cedar Trails Partnership has created more than 80 miles of trails in the area. The city has a riverfront park as well as several other parks and natural areas. If you are traveling through the area, there are RV parks from which to choose.
  1. George Wyth State Park

    • George Wyth State Park is a base for trails that cover the area. There are 5 miles of trails in the park, and you can take trails to other parks as there are 80 or more miles of trails in the area.

      This park has 69 campsites, and reservations may be made for about half of them. No reservations are needed during the winter.

      The campsites have cement pads and full hookups--water, sewer and electricity with 30-amp connections. There are modern bathrooms and showers as well as a dump station. The campground is on the banks of the Cedar River, with many boating activities available. There are four small lakes in the area, all connected by a water trail, and there is a swimming beach on the river.

    Lake Shore RV Park

    • The Lake Shore campground is on Delwein Lake and beside the Lake View Golf Course, a few miles from Waterloo.

      The RV sites have full hookups at most of the sites. A few sites have only water and electricity with 30-amp connections. There is a bathroom and shower available as well as a laundry facility.

      The campground has theme weekends, games and books to be checked out, family and children's planned activities and courts for various games. Toddler train and wagon rides are also on the grounds.

      There are three golf courses in the immediate area as well as almost 3 miles of trails. Fontana Park is nearby in Hazelton with canoeing, fishing and wild animal displays, hiking trails and more planned activities.

    Guttenberg RV Park

    • The Guttenberg RV Park was new in 2009 and is not far from the Waterloo area. It is near the Mississippi River and among the rolling hills of Guttenberg, a historic village.

      The campsites have full service hookups--water, sewer and electric with 30- and 50-amp connections. The sites come with a picnic table and a fire ring, and there is ample space between sites to have a feeling of privacy.

      A stone lodge is available with a game room, cable TV, a restroom and shower, and it sleeps five. There are activities on the grounds and a manager on site.

      There is a large area for volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, baseball and soccer. Bikes are available for rent. A boat ramp is just a couple blocks away, and restaurants are within five blocks.
