Purchase a SmartTrip metro card online or at a Metro retail station. Add up to $300 at a time to the card, at any Metro rail station.
Register the card online at the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA) website. Enter your card's identification information on the site to ensure it is on record with WMATA.
Visit a Metro retail station as soon as you lose your card. These are located at the Metro Center, Pentagon and Anacostia rail stations.
Provide your SmartTrip card number information to the Metro station agent, and pay the $5 card replacement fee to receive your replacement SmartTrip card.
Ensure your balance has been retained by swiping the card at any Metro rail station fare machine. If the balance is incorrect, visit the Metro retail station again and inform the station agent.
Purchase a 30 day Unlimited Ride MetroCard or a 7 day Express Bus MetroCard with a credit card or debit/ATM card.
Call the EasyPay Account Service Center at 877-323-7433 to deactivate your card and protect the current balance as soon as your card is lost or stolen.
Receive a new replacement card with the balance intact in two to three weeks.
