How to Redeem My Lost MetroCard

When traveling on the Metro rail and bus system in Washington, D.C., you can use either a paper metro ticket or a rechargeable SmartTrip card. If you lose the paper ticket, you cannot replace it. However, if you buy a SmartTrip card and register it online, you can replace the card for a small fee, with your balance at the time of loss retained on the card.
