How to Renew a Passport in New York

If you already have a passport and need to renew it, you can do so in person by making an appointment. New York state has numerous local passport application acceptance facilities and two regional passport agencies: one in New York City and one in Buffalo. If you are not in a rush to travel, you can visit one of the passport application acceptance facilities, usually located in post offices. If you need to travel within two weeks or if you need your passport within four weeks to obtain a foreign visa, you need to renew your application at the regional passport agency.
