How to Get a Passport in Cote D'Ivoire

Cote D'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is a country located on the west coast of Africa on the Gulf of Guinea. Its largest city is Abidjan, which is also where the U.S. Embassy is located. The embassy can replace a lost or stolen passport in Cote D'Ivoire.

      Download and print out passport forms from the U.S. State Department website: http://207.192.73.31/passport/passport_1738.html. If there is no access to the internet or a printer, visit the U.S. Embassy, in the Riviera Golf neighborhood of the Cocody section of Abidjan to obtain forms. Note that there is no formal address for the embassy.

      Take the passport forms and two passport photos to the embassy in person for processing. The embassy's post office address is 01 B.P. 1712 Abidjan 01. According to the U.S. embassy website, "Passport photos must be color photographs, 5 cm x 5 cm (2 in x 2 in). The photo must be full face, with a white or off-white background. No photographs with dark glasses or head-coverings other than religious wear which shows face, ears, and hairline."

      Take any identification at hand, such as a U.S. driver's license or birth certificate, to prove citizenship at the embassy. If a police report was filed about the stolen or lost passport, take that as well. Additional forms will need to be filled out at the embassy. The embassy will process the passport within a few days.
