How to Apply for a Working Visa in the Philippines

There are many different requirements for people traveling from country to country. Malaysia has several regulations for those entering the country but it should be relatively easy to complete the visa process for most people. American citizens that are in India that need a tourist visa to Malaysia should review the embassy guidelines. Most travelers from India will be granted a tourist visa upon arrival after inspection of the immigration officer.

Instructions

    • 1

Arrange employment beforehand. If you are planning on working in the Philippines work visas are only available for those that wish to conduct in lawful employment and that have secured a job before leaving the United States. The visa will be issued after the applicant has accepted a position and filed with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the employer has sworn under oath to the Department of Labor and Employment that the applicant will be working for them upon arrival to the Philippines.

    • 2

Obtain a valid passport. The passport must be valid for at least six months after the planned arrival to the Philippines. There also must be at least one blank page for the appropriate visa stamps and stickers.

    • 3

Complete two copies of the application form. The application form can be obtained on the Philippine Embassy website (see resources). Both of the applications must be filled out in black ink. The application has some questions about you such as name and birthday, passport information, citizenship information, and work information.

    • 4

Get your picture taken. The application requires that you submit four additional passport photos along with the application.

    • 5

Make a doctor's appointment. The medical exam must include a chest x-ray and a lab report stating that the applicant does not have AIDS. The examination must be submitted to the immigration officer at the port of entry (not with the rest of the application). The medical exam must have been conducted within the prior six month before entering the Philippines.

    • 6

Obtain a police clearance. You will have to go to your local precinct and request a background check on yourself. A criminal record can hinder your chances of receiving a work visa.

    • 7

Acquire a certified check or money order for the proper application fee amount. The application fee varies from person to person so make sure to check on the embassy website before submitting the application.

    • 8

Submit the application to the local consulate. The application must be walked in and submitted in person. Applications through the mail will not be accepted.
